Introducing 35 newly selected green businesses joining UGEFA

We are pleased to announce a new group of 35 green enterprises that have been selected to join the UGEFA Programme!

Newly selected businesses are implementing disruptive business models within the sectors of Green Manufacturing (including Agro-processing), Clean Energy, Waste Management, Sustainable Tourism, Sustainable Transport. Yellow Star Produce and Food Processors is an agro-based food processing and social enterprise fighting malnutrition problems in the rural parts of Northern Uganda through innovative organic food products production and by providing entrepreneurship skills among women and youth. AgriNet Uganda operates in the agricultural value chain as a processor and off-taker of agricultural products from smallholder farmers, who are provided with tailored training from production to post-harvest handling. Elsmat conservation technologies develops affordable, smoke-free bio-briquettes from recycled agricultural waste and customised, durable and eco-friendly energy-saving stoves from clay and scrap iron sheets that conserve energy.

Sun Time Uganda Limited supports and promotes the conservation of the environment by replacing polling energy systems with clean energy products like solar lamps. They have reduced the rate of deforestation by introducing a new clean way of heating and cooking through solar water heaters and solar induction cookers. Biha Eco Venture transforms plastic waste content and industrial poultry eggshells into recycled plastic building materials, providing an alternative to timber products that helps to reduce the deforestation rate. Clean Energy Partnership for Africa (CEPA) is a green company with a vision for powering agriculture through farm sustainability assessment to create value for smallholder farmers through technology transfer and participation in developing a biomass supply chain for waste to energy with electricity as an export product of rural areas. Wild Places Africa is a sustainable tourism company with focus on conservation with the aim to create a positive environmental and social impact through practices such as the use of clean energy, sustainable, low impact tourism, and participation in biodiversity conservation projects.
