Introducing the first cycle of UGEFA

10 JANUARY 2021 | KAMPALA

As we energetically begin the New Year, we are especially excited for the coming weeks, which will mark the launch of the first UGEFA Catalyser programme. In total, 35 enterprises were selected to join the first Cycle of the UGEFA programme, accessing interactive workshops on business plan refinement, financial management, and impact monitoring, and more.

The enterprises that will be joining the UGEFA programme bring innovative green products and services to market – from volcano rock-heated stoves (Volcano Coffee), to environmentally-conscious tourism accommodation (Banana Eco Village) -, and incorporate sustainability considerations into the manufacturing of their products (such as skin care products – Amagara Skincare ) and provision of services (such as events and conferences - MICE Uganda).

Inclusion into the green transition and the provision of green jobs is an important part of the business models. Enterprises like Nampya Farmers Market connect stakeholders along the supply chain to reduce food waste and increase transparency; Kimuli Fashionability trains and employs persons with disabilities; Safe Plan Uganda employs youth and conducts community sensitisation campaigns to clean energy technology.

At UGEFA, we are looking forward to supporting these enterprises to access financing and fuel their growth, generating environmental, social, and economic impacts along the way. Stay tuned as we share updates on their progress, and learn more about all of the selected enterprises in the video.
