UGEFA at National Corporate Book Launch Dialogue on Plastic Waste Management

The National Corporate Book Launch Dialogue on Plastic Waste Management, book titled "Wealth from Plastic Waste 2nd Edition”, was launched at Makerere University.

UGEFA was invited to participate in the corporate national book launch event that was organized by the Country Director Plawaste Consult Limited Mr. Tumusiime Kenneth Ahimbisibwe on 30th April 2021 at Makerere University, Kampala – Uganda.

The event attracted participants from the Academia, Private sector and Public sector, Civil and Advocacy organizations, the regulators and some of the enterprises mainly focusing on waste Management and the media.

There were key note speeches from Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, Chaplain St. Francis Chapel - Makerere University, Mr. Filbert Baguma, General Secretary, Uganda National Teachers’ Union and others on the role of the community towards plastic waste management, the health costs of burning plastic, financing opportunities for waste management companies and others. This session was chaired by Professor Yusto Kaahwa, Retired Physics Professor-Makerere University.

Thereafter, there was another round table discussions on the roles played by different stakeholders on plastic waste management including the financing opportunities.

UGEFA was represented by Mr. Fred Opio, Programs Coordinator UGEFA, and he made a presentation about the Financing Opportunity presented by UGEFA to green businesses in Uganda and operating in sectors of waste management, green manufacturing, sustainable tourism, transport and mobility, clean energy and others.

The event closed at 6:15 pm with the official launch of the book, titled "Wealth from Plastic Waste 2nd Edition”.
