Renewable Energy Business Incubator (REBi) is a business incubation centre that works to promote clean energy access in Uganda. REBi has been busy the past few months working with the first groups of UGEFA-supported enterprises. In speaking with Claire Kagga, REBi Manager, we learned more about her experience as a UGEFA Business Advisor and within her broader work at REBi, supporting green businesses to establish and expand their market presence.

This year the European Development Days (EDD) took place digitally on 15-16 June, going beyond the EU borders to engage with actors who are actively contributing to a green and inclusive transition. The event focused on the challenges defined by biodiversity loss, climate change and environmental degradation and stressed the importance of building a greener and inclusive environment as a solution for post COVID-19 pandemic recovery.

The Green Finance Academy Trainings and Innovation Lab – a collaborative partnership between the Uganda Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator (UGEFA), Uganda Bankers’ Association (UBA), SEED Practitioner Labs Climate Finance and GO4SDGs – offers an exclusive opportunity to UBA Member Banks with key ecosystem actors to strengthen the financial sector’s capacity to successfully finance green small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and environmental-related projects in Uganda. Trainings with innovation lab will run from December 2021 - March 2022. The Academy is funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

On Tuesday, 1 June, we were pleased to cordially invite UBA Member Banks to attend the launch of the Green Finance Academy - a collaborative partnership between UGEFA, Uganda Bankers’ Association (UBA), SEED Practitioner Labs Climate Finance and GO4SDGs. The launch event has been fully funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Uganda through the UGEFA programme.
