Green Enterprise Specialist Rainer Agster was interviewed at Morning At NTV on NTV Uganda to talk about what is green to UGEFA and how UGEFA supports green SMEs in Uganda.

UGEFA officially opened the first call for applications in October 2020 to kick start the admission of enterprises to the Programme.
In the first cycle, UGEFA received over 85 applications, 35 of which were qualified to be the first batch of enterprises supported by the programme. These enterprises work across different sectors, including waste management, sustainable transport and mobility, agro-processing, clean energy and others.

Green businesses in Uganda are being urged to apply to an accelerator programme that offers free finance-focused workshops and discounted loans to help them scale up.
The Ugandan Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator (UGEFA) is looking to help high-potential small and medium-sized enterprises that specialise in eco-tourism, clean energy, sustainable transport, waste management and green manufacturing, including agro-processing, turning raw crops in finished products like textiles and dried fruit.

September has been a busy month for UGEFA's participation in events. After presenting the three partnership launches with our partner banks (Equity Bank, Yako Bank and Opportunity Bank) and hosting a session at the Africa Climate Week 2021, UGEFA took part in two events on Energy in Uganda.
